Fontaleoni Chianti Colli Senesi 2024

Azienda Agricola Fontaleoni is a small estate whose vineyards are located at 200 meters above sea level, the ideal altitude for growing the Sangiovese varietal. It was established in 1959 when the Troiani family, vignerons for generations, moved to Tuscany. Restructured in the nineties, the cellar was renovated and new vineyards were planted to produce high-quality wines. Low yields of grapes, careful harvest and pressing of this fragile grape, and conscientious winemaking, have produced Vernaccia wines that continue to grow in quality and fame every year since the first bottling, in 1994. Clearly, this is an estate to keep watching!

Chianti Colli Senesi is DOCG and produced from 100% Sangiovese. The grapes are hand-picked from their vineyards that are 15-25 years of age. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with short skin maceration followed by malolactic fermentation is allowed, aged for six months then filtered prior to bottling.

The wine displays a deep vibrant ruby red color. The aromatics show hints of violets, cherry and red berry fruits. The palate has pleasant fruitiness balanced by freshness and minerality with a touch of Balsamic savoriness. Pairs well with pasta dishes, Tuscan salami or medium aged cheese. The winery is practicing organic.
